Carle's newest walk-in clinic provides new avenue for prompt care

Achy, fever, stuffy nose, diarrhea, strains and sprains. This isn’t a new Nyquil commercial. It's what the new Family Medicine walk-in clinic will treat to get you back to feeling normal quickly and easily.

“Patients get quick care and relief if they are feeling under the weather, battling seasonal allergies, nursing a sprain or strain,” said Margaret Menacher, RN, patient care manager for Family Medicine Residency.

Family Medicine Residency delivers primary care for the entire family from prenatal and pediatric care through the end of life. Open from 1-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, the clinic is available to new and current Carle patients.

Menacher says the residency program benefits patients by establishing an ongoing relationship with a physician and team of nurse practitioners and physician assistants who know them personally and can connect them with specialty care when needed.

The residency program is open to doctors doing their residency at Carle.

Timothy Meneely, DO, Family Medicine Residency program director, said the program design ensures physicians leave ready for the challenges ahead, both clinically and beyond.

They enter eager to learn and meet challenges head-on. They leave ready to accept the responsibilities of being a full-time physician.

“The actual learning of medicine can be difficult enough, but there are many other things you learn as a resident that you weren’t aware of before,” Dr. Meneely said. “They learn about social responsibility, their patient’s non-medical problems complicating their care, and other expectations needed to keep up with constant change in the medical field.”

Delivering state-of-the art care amidst a mentoring environment, residents are medical school graduates who work under the supervision and mentorship of licensed physicians.

“A walk-in clinic provides another choice for prompt care. You can stop in when you’re running errands or over lunch to address your needs,” Menacher said.
